New method: colonoscopy will no longer be an invasive examination. (1/2)

If you’re referring to a new, less-invasive alternative to traditional colonoscopy, there are several technologies being developed or already used—but the claim that colonoscopy will simply “no longer be invasive” is too broad.

Some alternatives include:

  • CT colonography (“virtual colonoscopy”) — uses CT imaging rather than inserting a conventional colonoscope. It can detect many polyps and cancers, but if a suspicious polyp is found, a conventional colonoscopy may still be needed for removal or biopsy.

  • Stool-based tests — such as FIT and stool DNA tests, which look for signs of colorectal cancer without an invasive examination. They are primarily screening tests rather than direct visual examinations.

  • Capsule endoscopy — a patient swallows a small camera capsule that passes through the digestive tract. Colon capsule endoscopy can visualize the colon in selected situations, although it has limitations and isn’t a universal replacement for colonoscopy.

So, non-invasive or minimally invasive screening is advancing, but conventional colonoscopy remains important because it allows doctors to directly examine the colon and remove polyps during the same procedure.

If you share part 2 of the claim, I can explain exactly what “new method” it is referring to and whether the claim is medically accurate.
