Very leafy orchid, if you water it with this it will be 10 times more beautiful

If you’re referring to the viral claim that a leafy orchid will become “10 times more beautiful” if you water it with a special homemade liquid, there’s no reliable evidence for a magic mixture that produces that result.

For a healthy orchid, especially a Phalaenopsis (moth orchid), the basics matter much more:

  • 🌿 Bright, indirect light — insufficient light is a common reason an orchid produces leaves but no flowers.
  • 💧 Water only when the potting medium is approaching dry, rather than on a fixed daily schedule.
  • 🪴 Excellent drainage — orchid roots need air as well as moisture. Don’t leave the pot sitting in water.
  • 🌱 Use an orchid fertilizer at the recommended dilution during active growth rather than concentrated kitchen mixtures.
  • 🌡️ Moderate temperatures and some day/night variation can help encourage flowering.
  • ✂️ Remove dead or diseased roots and leaves, but don’t cut healthy green roots simply because they look unusual.

What about rice water, banana water, coffee, or sugar?

These recipes circulate widely online, but they aren’t proven to make orchids bloom dramatically. Sugary or organic mixtures can also encourage microbial growth and potentially create problems in the potting medium.

If your orchid has lots of healthy leaves but won’t flower, that’s actually useful information. The most likely issue is often light, seasonal conditions, plant maturity, or care, rather than a missing “secret” fertilizer.

If you tell me what type of orchid you have and whether it’s producing new leaves, roots, or flower spikes, I can give you a specific routine to encourage blooming.
