Did you know that having visible veins means you are… See more

If you’re asking what visible veins in your hands or arms can mean, they’re often completely normal. They can be more noticeable because of:

  • Low body fat, making veins easier to see.

  • Exercise or physical activity, which temporarily increases blood flow.

  • Heat, which causes blood vessels to widen.

  • Genetics and age, which affect skin thickness and vein visibility.

  • Dehydration, which can sometimes make veins appear more prominent.

Visible veins do not automatically mean you’re especially healthy, muscular, or dehydrated. If veins suddenly become prominent along with pain, swelling, redness, warmth, or a change in color, it’s worth getting medical advice.
