That warning
is misleading. A three-dot tattoo (often arranged as a triangle, “∴”) does have meanings in some cultures, but it doesn’t automatically mean someone is dangerous or involved in crime.
Depending on the person and context, three dots can represent:
- “Mi vida loca” (“my crazy life”), a phrase sometimes associated with street or gang culture.
- Religious or personal symbolism, friendship, or simply a decorative design.
- In some prison/gang contexts, tattoos can carry specific meanings—but tattoo symbolism varies enormously by country, group, and individual.
So you shouldn’t judge someone’s character or safety solely from a three-point tattoo. If you’re concerned about a particular person, pay attention to their actual behavior, not just their tattoo.
