…another classic viral clickbait hook trying to turn a normal sleeping habit into a medical emergency!
As we touched on earlier regarding sleep positions, articles love to use ominous ellipses (“you should have…”) to trick you into clicking.
If you favor sleeping on your right side, you do not need any special medical interventions, emergency gadgets, or drastic lifestyle overhauls. For the vast majority of people, right-side sleeping is completely natural and harmless.
The only things you “should have” if you are a happy right-side sleeper are:
  • A supportive pillow that keeps your neck and spine aligned (filling the gap between your ear and mattress).
  • An extra pillow between your knees if you experience any lower back or hip tension.
  • Peace of mind, knowing that unless you suffer from severe, chronic acid reflux (GERD)—in which case your doctor might suggest trying the left side—your preferred sleeping position is entirely fine.
Did a specific headline catch your eye with this phrase, or were you curious about what side-sleeping adjustments actually matter?
