Cutting a lemon into four pieces and adding salt may:
🍋 Make the room smell fresher temporarily because lemon releases volatile oils.
🧂 Help absorb a small amount of moisture or odors on the surface.
😌 Give a pleasant citrus scent that some people find refreshing.
But there’s no good evidence that a salted, cut lemon meaningfully purifies the air, kills germs, removes toxins, or provides major health benefits simply by sitting in a room.
If you’re trying it for odor control, it’s harmless enough, but replace the lemon regularly—once it starts drying out or growing mold, it can make the room smell worse.
