Baking Soda Grease Cleaner: A Simple Recipe 🧽
Baking soda can help absorb grease and provide mild abrasion, but it isn’t the only way to remove grease, and it won’t work equally well on every surface.
Easy homemade grease paste
You’ll need:
-
½ cup baking soda
-
2–3 tablespoons dishwashing liquid
-
2–4 tablespoons warm water
How to make and use it:
-
Mix the baking soda and dish soap.
-
Add warm water gradually until you have a thick, spreadable paste.
-
Apply a thin layer to the greasy area.
-
Leave it for 5–10 minutes.
-
Scrub gently with a non-scratch sponge or soft brush.
-
Wipe with a damp cloth and rinse if appropriate.
-
Dry the surface afterward.
Where it can work well
This mixture is useful for stovetops, range-hood surfaces, stainless-steel sinks, and washable kitchen surfaces, provided the manufacturer’s care instructions allow it.
⚠️ Don’t use it everywhere
Avoid abrasive baking-soda paste on delicate finishes, polished stone, nonstick coatings, easily scratched surfaces, or unfinished wood unless the manufacturer specifically says it’s safe.
And never mix baking soda with bleach or other cleaning chemicals. For heavy grease, ordinary dish detergent or a commercial degreaser may actually work better.
If you tell me which areas the original post lists (stove, cabinets, oven, clothes, walls, etc.), I can give you the safest recipe for each one.
