🥔 Easy Crispy Baked Potato Recipe
A good baked potato should have crisp skin and a fluffy, tender center.
Ingredients
- 4 medium-to-large russet potatoes
- 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Optional: black pepper, butter, sour cream, cheese, chives
Instructions
- Heat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly, then dry them well.
- Pierce each potato several times with a fork.
- Rub the skins lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
- Place directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 45–60 minutes, depending on size. They’re ready when a fork slides easily into the center.
- Carefully cut a slit across the top and fluff the inside with a fork.
- Add your favorite toppings and serve immediately.
🧈 Simple topping
Try butter + black pepper + a little salt. For a heartier version, add grated cheddar and chopped green onions.
Tip: Don’t wrap the potatoes in foil if you want crispy skin. Foil traps steam and produces a softer skin.
For food safety, don’t leave cooked potatoes sitting at room temperature for extended periods; refrigerate leftovers promptly and reheat thoroughly.
