“Can’t Stop Baking These Cookies” — An Easy Recipe 🍪

If you want a simple, reliable cookie recipe, try these soft chocolate-chip cookies.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
  • ¼ cup (50 g) white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1¼ cups (160 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup (130 g) chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter and sugars until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda and salt.
  5. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Don’t overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  8. Bake for approximately 9–12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden but the centers still look slightly soft.
  9. Let them cool on the tray for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

🍪 For extra-good cookies

For thicker, chewier cookies, chill the dough for 30–60 minutes before baking. Take them out when the centers still look a little underdone—they’ll continue setting as they cool.

Tip: If you’re making cookies for someone with diabetes, allergies, or dietary restrictions, tell me what ingredients you need to avoid and I can adapt the recipe.
