Ants can’t stand it! Use it to keep them away for good.

Ants Can’t Stand It!” — What Actually Keeps Them Away?Viral posts often recommend cinnamon, vinegar, coffee grounds, citrus peels, or essential oils as a permanent ant repellent. These may temporarily disrupt an ant trail, but they generally don’t eliminate the colony.

The method that works better

  1. Clean up food and water sources — especially crumbs, sugary spills, pet food, and leaking faucets.
  2. Wipe ant trails with soapy water to remove the chemical trail that guides other ants.
  3. Seal cracks and entry points around windows, doors, pipes, and baseboards.
  4. For a persistent infestation, use a commercial slow-acting ant bait near the trail. Worker ants carry the bait back to the nest, where it can reach other colony members and the queen.
  5. Don’t spray insecticide directly around the bait. Sprays can prevent ants from taking the bait back to the colony.

🌿 What about vinegar?

A diluted vinegar-and-water solution can be useful for wiping away ant trails, but it isn’t a reliable way to permanently eliminate an infestation.

Bottom line: The “one magic ingredient” claim is usually misleading. For lasting control, remove food/water + erase trails + seal entrances + use appropriate bait. And keep all pesticide baits away from children and pets and follow the product label.
