🍫 5-Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

🍫 5-Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

A warm, soft chocolate dessert made in one mug—perfect when you want something sweet without making a whole cake.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1½ tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ÂĽ tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil or melted butter
  • ÂĽ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the wet ingredients: Stir in milk, oil or melted butter, and vanilla until you have a smooth batter. Don’t overmix.
  3. Add chocolate: Push the chocolate chips into the center if using.
  4. Microwave: Cook on high for 60–90 seconds. Start checking at 60 seconds; the cake should be set around the edges while the center remains slightly moist.
  5. Rest for 1 minute before eating—the mug and cake will be very hot.
  6. Finish: Add a spoonful of yogurt, whipped cream, berries, or a little powdered sugar if desired.

🍓 Easy variation

Add 1 tbsp peanut butter to the center before microwaving for a chocolate-peanut-butter version.

Tip: Microwave power varies considerably. Overcooking is the quickest way to turn a mug cake dry, so cook in short increments if you’re unsure.
