🍫 5-Minute Chocolate Mug Cake
A warm, soft chocolate dessert made in one mug—perfect when you want something sweet without making a whole cake.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1½ tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- ÂĽ tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 3 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp neutral oil or melted butter
- ÂĽ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the wet ingredients: Stir in milk, oil or melted butter, and vanilla until you have a smooth batter. Don’t overmix.
- Add chocolate: Push the chocolate chips into the center if using.
- Microwave: Cook on high for 60–90 seconds. Start checking at 60 seconds; the cake should be set around the edges while the center remains slightly moist.
- Rest for 1 minute before eating—the mug and cake will be very hot.
- Finish: Add a spoonful of yogurt, whipped cream, berries, or a little powdered sugar if desired.
🍓 Easy variation
Add 1 tbsp peanut butter to the center before microwaving for a chocolate-peanut-butter version.
Tip: Microwave power varies considerably. Overcooking is the quickest way to turn a mug cake dry, so cook in short increments if you’re unsure.
