7 Early Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease You Should Know

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that can affect memory, thinking, and everyday activities. Early symptoms can sometimes be subtle.

Memory problems — Frequently forgetting recent conversations, appointments, or newly learned information.
Difficulty with familiar tasks — Struggling with things that were previously routine, such as cooking or managing bills.
Problems finding words — Having increasing difficulty following or joining conversations.
Getting confused about time or place — Losing track of dates, seasons, or where they are.
Misplacing things — Putting items in unusual places and being unable to retrace their steps.
Poor judgment or decision-making — Making unusual financial, safety, or personal decisions.
Changes in mood or personality — Becoming unusually withdrawn, anxious, suspicious, or irritable.
Important

These symptoms do not automatically mean someone has Alzheimer’s. Normal aging, depression, medication effects, sleep problems, vitamin deficiencies, and other medical conditions can cause similar changes.

If these problems are new, worsening, or interfering with daily life, a healthcare professional can help determine the cause.
