WRINKLES ON THE MOUTH, NO NEED TO WASTE TIME WITH CREAMS: THE REMEDY IS IN THE PANTRY

Wrinkles Around the Mouth: Can a Pantry Remedy Really Remove Them?

The headline “no need to waste time with creams” is misleading. Wrinkles around the mouth are a normal part of aging, influenced by collagen loss, sun exposure, genetics, smoking, and repetitive facial movement. No kitchen ingredient has been proven to erase established wrinkles.

🥣 What about pantry remedies?

You may see recommendations for baking soda, lemon juice, honey, coconut oil, or sugar scrubs. These may temporarily moisturize or smooth the skin, but they don’t rebuild lost collagen.

In particular, don’t use lemon juice or baking soda as a wrinkle treatment. Lemon can irritate skin and increase sun sensitivity, while baking soda can disrupt the skin’s natural barrier and cause dryness or irritation.

What actually helps?

1. Use sunscreen every day.
A broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher is one of the most important ways to prevent further photoaging.

2. Moisturize.
A good moisturizer can temporarily plump the skin, making fine lines less noticeable.

3. Consider retinol/retinoids.
These vitamin-A derivatives can stimulate collagen and improve fine lines over time. Start slowly because irritation is common, and don’t use retinoids during pregnancy.

4. For deeper lines, see a dermatologist.
Options can include prescription retinoids, fillers, laser resurfacing, or other procedures depending on the type and depth of the wrinkles.
