The trick to cleaning the oven ‘effortlessly’. Even the burn…

If you’re looking for the “effortless oven cleaning” trick, the key is to soften the baked-on grease before scrubbing rather than trying to scrape it off dry.

The simple method

  1. Turn the oven off and let it cool completely.
  2. Remove the racks and loose crumbs.
  3. Mix baking soda with a little dishwashing liquid and warm water to make a thick paste.
  4. Spread it over the greasy or burned areas, avoiding heating elements and electrical openings.
  5. Leave it for 30 minutes to several hours. For stubborn buildup, leaving the paste overnight can help.
  6. Wipe with a damp microfiber cloth or non-abrasive sponge.
  7. For remaining burnt spots, use a plastic scraper carefully rather than a metal tool.
  8. Wipe several times with clean water until all residue is removed, then dry the surfaces.

For the oven-door glass

Use the same mild paste, but don’t aggressively scrub or use steel wool—it can scratch the glass. Check your oven manual before removing the door or attempting to clean between its glass panels.

⚠️ Avoid dangerous combinations, don’t assume that a homemade mixture is safe for every oven. Some manufacturers specifically warn against certain cleaners

Don’t mix bleach, ammonia, oven cleaner, vinegar, or other cleaning chemicals together. Chemical fumes can be dangerous.

Also, don’t assume that a homemade mixture is safe for every oven. Some manufacturers specifically warn against certain cleaners or self-cleaning cycles.

The real trick is time: letting a degreasing solution soften the baked-on residue does most of the work.
