Visible Veins in Your Hands: Should You Be Worried?
Usually, no. Prominent veins on the hands are often completely normal, particularly with aging, lower body fat, exercise, heat, or thinner skin. As skin loses thickness and elasticity with age, superficial veins can become much easier to see.

Visible hand veins do not, by themselves, mean you have heart disease, a blood clot, or poor circulation.
When it deserves medical attention
Have new or suddenly changing prominent veins evaluated if they’re accompanied by:
Swelling of the hand or arm
Pain or tenderness
Redness or warmth
Blue/purple discoloration
Numbness or tingling
A vein that becomes hard, swollen, or painful
These symptoms can sometimes indicate a vein or circulation problem.

Seek urgent medical care for sudden significant arm swelling, severe pain, chest pain, or sudden shortness of breath.

Bottom line: If the veins in your hands have gradually become more visible but you otherwise feel well, aging and thinner skin are very common explanations. The appearance alone isn’t a reliable warning sign of serious disease.
