If you mean the dark ring or buildup around the base of a bathroom or kitchen faucet, it’s usually caused by mineral deposits, soap residue, grime, or mold/mildew.
Simple cleaning method
Wipe away loose dirt with a damp microfiber cloth.
Mix warm water with a few drops of dish soap and scrub the area gently.
For white, chalky mineral buildup, apply white vinegar diluted 1:1 with water to a cloth and place it around the ring for a few minutes.
Gently scrub with an old soft toothbrush.
Rinse thoroughly and dry completely with a clean cloth.
For stubborn dark staining around the caulk, it may be mold embedded in the sealant. Cleaning may improve it, but replacing the affected caulk may be necessary if the discoloration remains.
⚠️ Don’t mix vinegar with bleach or other cleaning products. Also, avoid abrasive scrubbers that can scratch chrome or other faucet finishes.
