How to Clean Your Toilet Flush and Make It Look Like New

How to clean your toilet flush and make it look like new

If you mean the flush handle, button, or flush mechanism, you can usually clean it without harsh chemicals.

Simple method

  1. Wipe away loose dirt
Use a damp microfiber cloth to remove dust and surface grime.

  2. Clean with mild dish soap
Mix a small amount of dish soap with warm water. Dampen a cloth and wipe the flush handle/button and the surrounding area.

  3. Tackle buildup around the handle
For mineral deposits, use a cloth lightly dampened with white vinegar, provided the manufacturer’s instructions for the fixture don’t prohibit it. Let it sit briefly, then wipe and rinse with clean water.

  4. Clean the seams
Use a soft toothbrush or cotton swab to reach around the edges and behind the handle.

  5. Dry and polish
Wipe with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. This removes water spots and leaves chrome or stainless-steel surfaces looking much cleaner.

If the flush is sticking

Don’t just clean the outside. Open the tank and check whether the chain, flapper, or other mechanism is sticking or worn. Replace damaged components rather than forcing the handle.

Never mix vinegar with bleach or other toilet cleaners. Rinse away one product completely before using another.

If you’re actually referring to the inside of the toilet bowl or the flush holes under the rim, tell me which one and I can give you the quickest cleaning method.
