Easy Southern 4-Ingredient Cucumber Sandwiches
These classic cucumber tea sandwiches are cool, creamy, crisp and incredibly easy—no cooking required. The basic version uses just four ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf soft white sandwich bread
- 8 oz (225 g) plain cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 large seedless cucumbers, very thinly sliced
Directions
- Soften the cream cheese for about 30 minutes.
- Slice the cucumbers very thinly and gently pat them dry with paper towels. This helps prevent soggy sandwiches.
- Mix the cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of the mixture over each slice of bread.
- Arrange a single layer of cucumber slices over half of the bread.
- Top with the remaining bread and gently press together.
- Trim the crusts and cut into triangles or small squares.
- Refrigerate for about 30 minutes before serving.
🌿 Easy optional touches
For a little extra flavor, you can add dill, black pepper or a pinch of garlic powder—but then it becomes a five- or six-ingredient recipe.
Tip: These are best served the same day. For parties, keep them chilled until you’re ready to serve so the bread stays fresh and the cucumber remains crisp.
