Bleach stains are tricky because bleach usually removes the dye from fabric rather than leaving a removable “stain.” That means you often can’t wash the mark away—but you may be able to repair or hide it.
Here are some options:
1. Re-dye the clothing
- For larger bleach spots, dyeing the whole garment a darker color can help even out the appearance.
- Choose a dye suitable for the fabric type (cotton, polyester, blends, etc.).
2. Use a fabric marker
- For small bleach marks, a fabric marker close to the original color can disguise the spot.
- Test on an inside seam first.
3. Turn it into a design
- Add multiple intentional marks with fabric bleach (carefully) to create a tie-dye or pattern effect.
- This works best on dark cotton fabrics.
4. Cover the spot
- Sew on a patch, add embroidery, or use decorative fabric appliqué.
