How to Use Baking Soda to Remove Dark Spots, Wrinkles, and Dark Circles from Your Face

Can Baking Soda Remove Dark Spots, Wrinkles, and Dark Circles?

Baking soda is often promoted as a quick DIY beauty treatment, but it has not been proven to safely remove wrinkles, dark spots, or dark circles.

Because baking soda is alkaline, applying it to your face can disrupt the skin barrier and cause dryness, irritation, or redness. The delicate skin around the eyes is especially sensitive.

Safer Options

For dark spots:
Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day. Ingredients such as niacinamide, vitamin C, or azelaic acid may gradually improve uneven pigmentation.

For wrinkles:
Daily sunscreen and a good moisturizer are important. Retinoid products can also help reduce signs of skin aging when used appropriately.

For dark circles:
They can be caused by genetics, allergies, lack of sleep, pigmentation, or natural aging. Treating the underlying cause is more useful than applying harsh DIY ingredients.

What to Avoid

❌ Don’t scrub your face with baking soda.
❌ Don’t apply baking soda near your eyes.
❌ Don’t mix baking soda with lemon juice or other irritating ingredients.

Bottom line: Baking soda isn’t a proven anti-aging or dark-spot treatment. Gentle skincare, sun protection, and evidence-based ingredients are safer choices for healthier-looking skin.
