Add it to your cream and blemishes on your face will be a distant memory.

If this is referring to a viral skincare hack, be cautious with the claim that adding a household ingredient to your cream will make facial blemishes disappear. There isn’t a universal DIY ingredient that safely removes acne or dark spots.

For blemishes, safer evidence-based options depend on the cause:

  • Acne: Products containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can help.
  • Dark marks after acne: Daily broad-spectrum SPF 30+ is important; ingredients such as azelaic acid can also help.
  • Dry or irritated skin: Use a simple, fragrance-free moisturizer rather than mixing household ingredients into it.

Avoid putting toothpaste, lemon juice, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, or undiluted essential oils on your face. They can irritate or burn the skin and may make pigmentation worse.

If you tell me what ingredient the post says to add to the cream, I can tell you whether the hack is actually safe and effective.
