A natural remedy for parasites and urinary tract infections

“A Natural Remedy for Parasites and Urinary Tract Infections” — What’s the Truth?

Be cautious with this type of headline. There isn’t a natural herb or home remedy proven to eliminate both parasites and urinary tract infections (UTIs). These are different infections that can have very different causes and treatments.

🦠 For urinary tract infections

Most bladder infections are caused by bacteria and are commonly treated with appropriate antibiotics when treatment is needed. Drinking enough water can help with hydration and may ease symptoms, but water or herbal remedies don’t reliably eradicate an established infection.

Cranberry is different: some evidence suggests it may modestly reduce the risk of recurrent UTIs in certain women, but it is not recommended for treating an existing UTI.

🪱 What about parasites?

“Parasites” is a broad category. Pinworms, Giardia, tapeworms and other parasites require different diagnostic tests and treatments. There is no established plant remedy that safely eliminates all of them.

⚠️ Don’t delay treatment

Burning when urinating, frequent urination, lower-abdominal discomfort, cloudy or bloody urine can indicate a bladder infection. If you develop fever, chills, vomiting, or pain in your back/side, the infection may have reached the kidneys and needs prompt medical attention.
