5 Colors You May Want to Reconsider After 50
There are no colors you need to avoid simply because you’re over 50. Personal coloring, lighting, hair color, and—most importantly—what makes you feel confident matter far more than age.
That said, some shades can look less flattering depending on your complexion.
1. 🩶 Dull gray
Gray can sometimes make a complexion appear washed out, particularly when it’s close to the face. Try a brighter gray, charcoal, or pair it with a more vibrant color.
2. 🟤 Yellowish beige
Some beige or “muddy” neutrals can blend into the skin and reduce contrast. A cooler taupe, cream, or richer camel may be more flattering.
3. 🟡 Mustard yellow
Mustard can look fantastic on some people, but its yellow-brown undertones may emphasize sallowness in others. Try it farther from the face or choose a clearer yellow.
4. 🟢 Olive green
Olive is another shade that depends heavily on your undertone. If it makes your skin look tired, try emerald, forest green, or a cooler green instead.
