What Is The Normal Blood Pressure For Each Age

There isn’t a single “normal blood pressure” number for each age. For adults, blood-pressure categories generally don’t change simply because you’re older. What matters is the actual reading, repeated measurements, and your overall health.

Adult blood-pressure guide
Blood pressure Systolic Diastolic
Normal <120 and <80
Elevated 120–129 and <80
High BP — Stage 1 130–139 or 80–89
High BP — Stage 2 ≥140 or ≥90
Severely high ≥180 and/or ≥120

For example, 135/85 is not considered “normal” simply because someone is 70 or 80.

Blood pressure also naturally varies throughout the day, so one unusual reading doesn’t necessarily mean you have hypertension. If you’re consistently getting readings of 130/80 or higher, discuss them with a healthcare professional.

If you want, I can also give you a simple age-by-age chart from 20 to 90+ showing typical targets and when to seek medical attention.
