Easy Southern 4-Ingredient Cucumber Sandwiches

Easy Southern 4-Ingredient Cucumber Sandwiches

These classic cucumber tea sandwiches are cool, creamy, crisp and incredibly easy—no cooking required. The basic version uses just four ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf soft white sandwich bread
  • 8 oz (225 g) plain cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 large seedless cucumbers, very thinly sliced

Directions

  1. Soften the cream cheese for about 30 minutes.
  2. Slice the cucumbers very thinly and gently pat them dry with paper towels. This helps prevent soggy sandwiches.
  3. Mix the cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth.
  4. Spread a thin layer of the mixture over each slice of bread.
  5. Arrange a single layer of cucumber slices over half of the bread.
  6. Top with the remaining bread and gently press together.
  7. Trim the crusts and cut into triangles or small squares.
  8. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes before serving.

🌿 Easy optional touches

For a little extra flavor, you can add dill, black pepper or a pinch of garlic powder—but then it becomes a five- or six-ingredient recipe.

Tip: These are best served the same day. For parties, keep them chilled until you’re ready to serve so the bread stays fresh and the cucumber remains crisp.
