3 Baking Soda Recipes to Burn Belly Fat

Baking Soda and Belly Fat: The Real Story

There are no baking-soda recipes proven to burn belly fat. Drinking baking soda does not cause meaningful fat loss, and taking too much can be dangerous because it provides a large sodium load and can disturb the body’s acid-base balance.

You may see recipes such as:

  • Baking soda + lemon water

  • Baking soda + apple-cider vinegar

  • Baking soda + warm water

These may be marketed as “fat burners,” but none has been shown to selectively melt abdominal fat.

What actually helps reduce belly fat

  • Create a sustainable calorie deficit through diet and activity.

  • Eat adequate protein and plenty of vegetables and high-fiber foods.

  • Do resistance training 2–3 times per week.

  • Add regular walking or other aerobic activity.

  • Limit sugary drinks and excess alcohol.

  • Get adequate sleep.

If you enjoy lemon water, you can certainly drink it without baking soda—it’s a low-calorie beverage, but the benefit comes from replacing higher-calorie drinks, not from “burning” fat.
