That little round hole near the end of many nail clippers isn’t just decorative. Its purpose depends on the clipper design.
The most common purpose
On many traditional nail clippers, the hole is there to attach the clipper to a key ring, lanyard, or small chain. It makes the tool easier to carry and less likely to get lost.
But there’s a second possibility
If you’re talking about the small circular opening in the lever/handle mechanism, rather than the hole at the end of the clipper body, it can be part of the pivot and assembly mechanism that allows the lever to operate the cutting jaws.
So the viral claim that the hole is a secret tool for something like removing splinters, opening bottles, or cleaning under your nails is generally not a standard purpose of the nail clipper hole.
