“Two Spoons in the Morning and Forget About Bone Pain, Diabetes, Nerves and Depression” — Is It True?
This viral headline is far too good to be true. There isn’t a two-spoon natural remedy proven to eliminate bone pain, diabetes, nerve problems and depression.
Several versions of this claim circulate, using different ingredients—including apple-cider vinegar, flaxseed, turmeric, honey/cinnamon, chia seeds and even magnesium chloride. That inconsistency itself is a good reason to be skeptical. (wallrecipes)
What these ingredients can—and can’t—do
- Apple-cider vinegar: Some studies suggest modest effects on blood glucose, but it does not cure diabetes and shouldn’t replace diabetes medication.
- Flaxseed/chia: Good sources of fiber and plant omega-3 fats and can be part of a heart-healthy diet.
- Turmeric/curcumin: May have modest effects on some types of joint pain, but it isn’t a treatment for diabetes or depression.
- Honey: Still contains significant amounts of sugar and isn’t a diabetes treatment.
- Magnesium: Correcting a genuine deficiency can be important, but taking magnesium isn’t a cure for neuropathy, depression or bone pain.
⚠️ Be particularly careful if you have diabetes
Concentrated supplements or mixtures can interact with medicines or affect blood glucose. And never replace prescribed diabetes, nerve-pain or antidepressant medication with a homemade remedy.
If you have persistent bone or joint pain, numbness/burning in your feet, high blood sugar or depression, the underlying cause should be evaluated. These symptoms can have very different causes and treatments.
Bottom line: A healthy food such as chia or flaxseed can be a useful addition to your diet, but two spoonfuls of any kitchen ingredient won’t make diabetes, nerve disease, depression or significant bone pain disappear.
