The Best Vitamin for Your Legs: What Dead Feet and Heavy Calves Are Missing

If by “dead feet” you mean numbness, tingling, burning, or a heavy/weak feeling in the legs, there isn’t one vitamin that universally fixes it.

Some vitamin deficiencies can contribute:

  • Vitamin B12 — deficiency can cause numbness, tingling, burning sensations, balance problems, and weakness.

  • Folate (B9) — deficiency can contribute to anemia and, less commonly, neurological symptoms.

  • Vitamin B1 (thiamine) — severe deficiency can cause nerve problems and weakness.

  • Vitamin D — deficiency is associated with muscle weakness and bone/muscle discomfort, although it isn’t usually the explanation for numb feet.

Heavy calves can also have causes unrelated to vitamins, including prolonged standing, muscle overuse, circulation problems, nerve compression, medications, or other medical conditions.

If numbness or weakness is persistent, worsening, affects one side, or is accompanied by trouble walking, it’s worth getting medically evaluated rather than simply taking supplements. A clinician may check B12, glucose, thyroid function, electrolytes, and other causes depending on your symptoms.

If you tell me your age, whether the feet are numb/tingly/burning or simply heavy, whether both legs are affected, and how long this has been happening, I can help narrow down the possibilities.
