Signs Your Body May Be Having a Stroke

A stroke usually doesn’t give a reliable warning days or weeks in advance. Instead, symptoms often appear suddenly. A temporary episode can be a TIA (“mini-stroke”), which has the same warning signs and still requires emergency assessment.

Watch for:

Sudden facial drooping — especially on one side.
Sudden weakness or numbness — particularly in one arm or leg, usually on one side.
Sudden speech problems — slurred speech, inability to speak, or difficulty understanding others.
Sudden vision changes — blurred, double, or loss of vision in one or both eyes.
Sudden loss of balance or coordination — dizziness, difficulty walking, or stumbling.
Sudden severe headache with no obvious cause.

Do not wait for symptoms to improve. Even if they disappear after a few minutes, they could be a TIA and need urgent medical evaluation. Note the exact time the symptoms began, because this can affect treatment decisions.
