“Put 2 drops in your ear and you will hear like before” — is this true?
Not as a general claim. There is no two-drop remedy that can reliably restore hearing loss to normal. The treatment depends entirely on why the hearing has decreased.
When drops can help
If reduced hearing is caused by earwax blocking the ear canal, certain ear drops can soften the wax so it can leave the ear naturally. NHS guidance lists olive or almond oil as options for uncomplicated earwax buildup.

But this can take days rather than minutes, and it won’t restore hearing caused by problems in the middle or inner ear.
⚠️ Don’t put mystery substances in your ear
Avoid viral recipes involving oils, hydrogen peroxide, herbal extracts, garlic, or other household substances unless a healthcare professional has confirmed they’re appropriate.
Do not use ear drops if you have—or might have—a perforated eardrum, unless a clinician specifically recommends them.

🚨 Sudden hearing loss is different
If hearing suddenly disappears or noticeably decreases in one or both ears, particularly over hours or a few days, don’t assume it’s earwax. Sudden sensorineural hearing loss is a medical emergency, and prompt assessment and treatment can improve the chance of recovery.

Bottom line: Two drops might help if the problem is simply earwax, but they cannot generally “recover your hearing.” Persistent or sudden hearing loss needs an ear examination rather than a home remedy.
