Absolutely đ Brussels sprouts get a bad reputation, but when they’re cooked well, they’re genuinely delicious.
The biggest difference is preparation. Boiling them until they’re soft and sulfurous can produce that classic âI hate Brussels sproutsâ experience. Try:
- Roasted: Halve them, toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roast at about 220°C / 425°F until browned and crispy.
- With bacon: Roast with chopped bacon or turkey bacon and finish with a little balsamic vinegar.
- Honey-balsamic: Roast until caramelized, then drizzle with a small amount of honey and balsamic vinegar.
- Garlic and Parmesan: Roast with garlic and finish with grated Parmesan.
- Shaved raw: Thinly slice them and use them as a crunchy salad base with lemon, olive oil, nuts, and Parmesan.
And nutritionally, they’re a great vegetable: fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, and other plant compounds.
So yesâpeople absolutely eat them. The trick is don’t boil them into submission. đ
