Do you urinate too much at night? Eat bananas this way …see more

The headline “Do you urinate too much at night? Eat bananas this way…” is misleading. Bananas are nutritious, but there is no good evidence that eating a banana in a particular way cures nocturia (waking repeatedly at night to urinate).

🍌 Where the banana idea comes from

Bananas contain potassium, and potassium is important for normal muscle and nerve function. But that doesn’t mean eating a banana before bed will stop nighttime urination. Nocturia has many possible causes, including evening fluid intake, diabetes, bladder problems, an enlarged prostate, certain medications, sleep disorders, and fluid accumulating in the legs. What may actually help

When it deserves a medical check

If you’re repeatedly waking several times every night, especially if this is a new change, don’t assume you simply need more potassium. Diabetes, urinary infection, prostate problems, heart/circulation problems, and bladder disorders can all contribute. (Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust)

Bottom line: Eating bananas is fine for most people, but there’s no proven “banana method” that stops nighttime urination. Finding the underlying cause is much more useful than relying on a viral recipe.
