Scratches on glasses: don’t waste money: apply a little and they’ll disappear instantly.

👓 Scratches on Glasses? The “Instant Fix” Is Mostly a Myth

If the lenses are genuinely scratched, there isn’t a household ingredient that can safely make the scratches disappear instantly. Viral tricks often recommend toothpaste, baking soda, car wax, or similar abrasives, but these can damage lens coatings and make vision worse.

What you should do instead
For fingerprints or smudges: Rinse the lenses with lukewarm water and use a small amount of lotion-free dish soap, then dry with a clean microfiber cloth.
For tiny surface marks: Don’t try to polish them away. Abrasive products can remove anti-reflective or protective coatings.
For significant scratches: Take the glasses to an optician. If the scratches interfere with your vision, replacing the lenses is usually the safest solution.
For future protection: Keep glasses in a hard case and clean them with appropriate lens-cleaning products and a microfiber cloth.
⚠️ Avoid these viral “scratch removers”

Toothpaste, baking soda, glass polish, acetone, and household cleaners can permanently damage lens surfaces or coatings.

Bottom line: If someone claims that “one drop” will make scratches disappear instantly, be skeptical. You may temporarily change how the scratch looks, but you generally can’t restore scratched optical lenses with a DIY polish.
