Old-Fashioned Oven-Baked 3-Ingredient ChickenA simple, comforting chicken dinner with the kind of no-fuss flavor people remember from old-fashioned home cooking.
Ingredients
- 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
Directions
- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the chicken pieces skin-side up in a lightly greased baking dish.
- Spread the cream of chicken soup over the chicken.
- Sprinkle the onion soup mix evenly over everything.
- Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for 20–30 minutes, until the chicken is browned and cooked through.
- Chicken should reach 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part.
The creamy onion sauce makes wonderful gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
Old-fashioned tip: For extra browning, put the uncovered chicken under the broiler for 2–3 minutes at the end, watching it closely.
