🌯 Ground Beef Tortilla Wraps
A quick, filling meal that’s great for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
For the beef:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ cup tomato sauce or salsa
For the wraps:
- 6 flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- ½ cup sliced avocado
- Sour cream, optional
- Salsa or hot sauce, optional
Instructions
- Cook the beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned.
- Add the onion and cook for 3–4 minutes, then add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt and pepper.
- Add tomato sauce or salsa. Reduce the heat and simmer for 3–5 minutes, until the mixture thickens. Cook ground beef to 160°F/71°C for food safety.
- Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave so they’re flexible.
- Place beef down the center of each tortilla. Add cheese, lettuce, tomato and avocado.
- Add sour cream or salsa if desired.
- Fold in the sides, then roll tightly into a wrap.
🌶️ Easy variations
- Cheesy: Add extra cheese and toast the finished wraps in a skillet until crisp.
- Spicy: Add jalapeños or your favorite hot sauce.
- Mexican-style: Add black beans, corn and fresh cilantro.
- Fresh: Add lime juice and diced avocado.
Tip: Don’t overfill the tortillas—keeping the filling in a narrow line makes them much easier to roll without spilling.
