New Methods: Will Colonoscopy Become Less Invasive?
For many people, the idea of a colonoscopy can be uncomfortable. The good news is that newer, less-invasive screening options are becoming available, including stool tests, blood tests, CT colonography, and capsule-based examinations. (cancer.org)
1. Capsule Colonoscopy
One interesting option is colon capsule endoscopy. You swallow a small capsule containing a camera, which takes pictures as it travels through the digestive tract. The capsule eventually leaves the body naturally. (cancer.gov)
However, you still need bowel preparation, and capsule testing cannot remove a polyp or take a biopsy. If something concerning is found, a traditional colonoscopy may still be necessary.
2. Stool Tests

3. Blood Tests
Blood-based colorectal cancer screening is also becoming an option. Is Colonoscopy Going Away?
