Mix toothpaste and Vaseline, I didn’t expect it to be so effective

If this is a viral beauty hack, be cautious: mixing toothpaste with Vaseline isn’t a proven skincare treatment.

  • Toothpaste can contain detergents, flavoring agents, and abrasives that irritate or dry the skin. It may cause redness, burning, or dermatitis.
  • Vaseline (petrolatum) is an effective skin protectant and moisturizer, but it doesn’t make toothpaste safer or more effective.
  • For dry or irritated skin, plain Vaseline on slightly damp skin is generally a much safer choice.
  • Avoid putting toothpaste on pimples, lips, burns, or sensitive skin.

If you tell me what the mixture is supposed to treat—acne, dark spots, wrinkles, dry skin, or something else—I can tell you whether there’s a safer alternative.
