6 Vitamins to UNBLOCK your ARTERIES!

6 Nutrients That Support Healthy Arteries — But Don’t “Unblock” Them

You may have seen claims that certain vitamins can “clean out” clogged arteries. The truth is more nuanced: vitamins cannot be relied on to dissolve existing arterial plaque.

However, getting enough essential nutrients as part of a balanced diet can support overall cardiovascular health.

1. Vitamin C

Found in citrus fruits, peppers, broccoli, and strawberries. Vitamin C is important for normal blood-vessel and connective-tissue function.

2. Vitamin E

Found in nuts, seeds, and vegetable oils. It acts as an antioxidant, but taking high-dose vitamin E supplements has not been shown to remove arterial plaque.

3. Folate (Vitamin B9)

Found naturally in leafy greens, beans, peas, and some fruits. It supports normal cell function and red blood cell production.

4. Vitamin B12

Important for healthy blood cells and nerves. People with a deficiency need adequate B12, but taking extra B12 when you’re not deficient isn’t a proven way to clear arteries.

5. Vitamin D

Important for bones, muscles, and other body functions. Correcting a deficiency is beneficial for overall health, but vitamin D supplements have not been shown to “unclog” arteries.

6. Vitamin B6

Helps the body perform numerous metabolic functions and is found in foods such as poultry, fish, potatoes, and bananas.
