The claim “put 2 drops in your ear and you’ll hear like before” is misleading. There is no universal ear drop that restores hearing.
If reduced hearing is caused by earwax blockage, an appropriate wax-softening product may help. But hearing loss from age-related inner-ear damage, nerve problems, infection, or other conditions won’t be cured by ordinary ear drops.
Don’t put a homemade remedy in your ear
Avoid putting garlic, oil, vinegar, alcohol, lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, or other mixtures into the ear unless a healthcare professional has specifically recommended it. Some substances can irritate or damage the ear, particularly if the eardrum is perforated.
Don’t use ear drops if you have ear drainage, significant pain, ear tubes, a known/perceived perforated eardrum, or recent ear surgery without medical advice.
Important
If hearing loss happened suddenly, especially in one ear, seek urgent medical evaluation. Sudden sensorineural hearing loss can be time-sensitive, and delaying treatment can reduce the chance of recovery.
If you tell me whether your hearing loss is sudden or gradual, one ear or both, and whether you have wax, ringing, pain, dizziness, or drainage, I can help you work out what the safest next step is.
