A simple way to clean oven-door-on grease and food residue, you can usually glass

For baked-on grease and food residue, you can usually get excellent results without harsh oven cleaner.

What you’ll need

  • ½ cup baking soda

  • A little warm water

  • A few drops of dishwashing liquid (optional)

  • Microfiber cloth or non-scratch sponge

  • Plastic scraper

Method

  1. Turn the oven off and let the door cool completely.

  2. Mix the baking soda with enough warm water to make a thick paste.

  3. Add a few drops of dish soap if the glass is particularly greasy.

  4. Spread the paste over the glass and leave it for 20–30 minutes.

  5. Gently loosen the softened residue with a damp microfiber cloth or a plastic scraper.

  6. Wipe repeatedly with clean water until no baking-soda residue remains.

  7. Dry and polish with a clean microfiber cloth.

For really stubborn spots

A small amount of white vinegar on a damp cloth after removing the baking-soda paste can help dissolve remaining residue. Don’t mix vinegar and baking soda together in advance—the reaction largely neutralizes them.

Avoid: steel wool, abrasive scouring pads, metal scrapers, and spraying cleaner into the door vents or seals. Also check your oven’s manual before removing the inner glass panel.

This method cleans surface grease and baked-on residue; if the discoloration is between the oven-door glass panels, the door may need to be disassembled according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
