Very dirty mop, do not buy it again: a drop of this ingredient and it will be as good as new again

If you mean the viral cleaning tip behind that headline, the “secret ingredient” is usually dishwashing liquid—but you should use only a small amount.

How to clean a very dirty mop

  1. Rinse the mop first with plenty of warm water to remove loose dirt.

  2. Fill a bucket with warm water.

  3. Add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. You don’t need much; too much soap can leave the mop sticky and make it attract dirt.

  4. Soak the mop head for 10–15 minutes.

  5. Rub or agitate the mop thoroughly, paying attention to heavily soiled areas.

  6. Rinse repeatedly until the water runs clear and there is no soapy residue.

  7. Wring it out and let it dry completely in sunlight or a well-ventilated place.

Important: Don’t mix dish soap with bleach, ammonia, vinegar, or other cleaning chemicals. If the mop is badly stained or smells persistently foul even after washing, replacing the mop head may be more hygienic.

If you want, I can also give you the stronger “deep-clean” recipe using baking soda and vinegar.
