Pancreatic Cancer: 10 Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore 🩺

Pancreatic cancer can be difficult to detect early because it may cause few or no symptoms at first. These symptoms can also be caused by many conditions that are not cancer, so having one doesn’t mean you have pancreatic cancer.

Possible warning signs include:

  1. Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
  2. Dark urine
  3. Pale or greasy stools
  4. Persistent pain in the upper abdomen, sometimes extending to the back
  5. Unexplained weight loss
  6. Loss of appetite
  7. Persistent nausea or vomiting
  8. Indigestion or other persistent digestive changes
  9. New or worsening diabetes without an obvious explanation
  10. Unusual tiredness or weakness

🚨 When to seek medical attention

Don’t ignore unexplained weight loss, persistent abdominal/back pain, jaundice, or ongoing digestive changes, particularly when several occur together. Arrange an evaluation with a healthcare professional.

Jaundice, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, or rapidly worsening symptoms may require urgent medical attention.

There is no reliable home test that can diagnose pancreatic cancer from symptoms alone. A clinician may use blood tests and imaging, and sometimes additional testing, to determine what’s causing the symptoms.

The key point: Don’t wait for all 10 signs to appear. Persistent or unexplained changes deserve evaluation, while sudden or severe symptoms require prompt care.
