🌱 “Never Uproot This Plant” — Is That True?
There isn’t one plant that you should never remove from your garden. Whether a plant is beneficial, invasive, poisonous, or simply a weed depends on the species and your location.
Some plants commonly considered valuable when they appear naturally include:
Dandelion — edible and an important food source for pollinators.
Clover — can improve soil and provides nectar for bees.
Nettle — supports wildlife and can be useful, but it can sting.
Milkweed — important for monarch butterflies and other pollinators.
Plantain (Plantago) — a common, non-native lawn plant with ecological and traditional uses.
On the other hand, some plants that look harmless can be invasive or toxic, so don’t assume a mystery plant should be left alone.
If you send me a photo of the plant or tell me what it looks like (leaf shape, flowers, height, and location), I can help identify it and tell you whether it’s worth keeping.
