Peace Lily: Can One Ingredient Make It Bloom for 10 Years?
There is no single ingredient that can make a peace lily bloom continuously for 10 years. Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum) can live and flower for many years with proper care, but flowering depends on several factors—not a secret fertilizer.
🌸 The most important “ingredient” is actually light
Peace lilies can survive in relatively low light, but bright, indirect light is much better for flowering. If yours has lots of green leaves but few flowers, inadequate light may be the problem.
🌱 For healthy, recurring blooms
- Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid intense direct sunlight.
- Water: Water when the upper portion of the potting mix begins to dry, and let excess water drain.
- Fertilizer: During active growth, use a balanced houseplant fertilizer according to its label rather than homemade mixtures.
- Soil: Use a loose, well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage holes.
- Temperature: Keep it away from cold drafts and extreme temperature changes.
