What Is The Normal Blood Pressure For Each Age

Blood pressure doesn’t have one exact “normal” value for each age. In adults, normal blood pressure is generally defined by the reading itself, not by age.

Typical adult blood-pressure categories
Blood pressure Systolic Diastolic
Normal <120 and <80 mmHg
Elevated 120–129 and <80
High (Stage 1) 130–139 or 80–89
High (Stage 2) ≥140 or ≥90
Severely high ≥180 and/or ≥120

These categories are commonly used for adults, although guidelines can differ somewhat by country and clinical situation.

For children and teenagers, normal blood pressure is more complicated because it depends on age, sex, and height, so adult thresholds shouldn’t simply be applied.

Also, a single high reading doesn’t necessarily mean you have hypertension. Repeated measurements taken correctly are much more informative.
