This natural and effective remedy for relieving constipation

If you’re referring to a natural remedy for ordinary constipation, prunes are one of the better-supported options. They contain fiber and sorbitol, which can help draw water into the bowel and make stools easier to pass.

🍑 Simple Prune Remedy
Start with 4–6 prunes a day.
Drink water alongside them.
If needed, gradually increase the amount according to how your body responds.
Prune juice is another option, although whole prunes provide more fiber.

Other helpful measures include gradually increasing fiber from vegetables, fruit, beans, lentils, and whole grains, drinking adequate fluids, and staying physically active.

⚠️ Don’t ignore warning signs

Constipation needs medical evaluation if it’s persistent or accompanied by severe abdominal pain, vomiting, significant abdominal swelling, blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss, or inability to pass stool or gas.

If constipation is new or keeps returning, particularly in an older adult, it’s better to determine the cause rather than relying indefinitely on home remedies.

Bottom line: Prunes can help with uncomplicated constipation, but they’re not a cure for constipation caused by an underlying medical condition.
