Slow-Cooker Baked Beans & Ground Beef
A cozy, budget-friendly 5-ingredient slow-cooker supper that takes only a few minutes to assemble.
Ingredients
500 g (1 lb) raw ground beef
2 cans (about 15 oz/425 g each) baked beans
1 small onion, diced
½ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
Method
Brown the ground beef first in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small pieces. Drain excess fat. This is preferable to putting raw ground beef directly into the slow cooker because browning improves flavor and helps ensure safe cooking.
Add the browned beef, baked beans, onion, ketchup, and mustard to the slow cooker.
Stir until everything is evenly combined.
Cover and cook on LOW for 4–6 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours, until the onion is tender and the mixture is piping hot.
Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
Serve with cornbread, crusty bread, baked potatoes, or a simple green salad.
Tip: Add a little smoked paprika or chili powder if you want a smoky, barbecue-style flavor—but that turns it into a six-ingredient version.
