A woman can live indefinitely without physical or sexual intimacy. There is no medical time limit after which a woman needs sex or physical intimacy to remain healthy or survive.
What varies is the emotional and psychological impact:
-
Some women are perfectly content without sexual intimacy.
-
Others may miss affection, companionship, touch, or sexual activity and experience loneliness, frustration, or sadness.
-
The desire for intimacy varies greatly with age, hormones, relationships, stress, medications, and personal preferences.
-
Lack of sex itself does not cause the body to become unhealthy, infertile, or “damaged.”
-
Affectionate nonsexual touch—such as hugging or holding hands—can provide emotional benefits, but it isn’t a medical requirement either.
If you’re asking because a woman has lost interest in intimacy, that’s different. Changes in libido can be associated with menopause, medications, depression or anxiety, relationship difficulties, pain during sex, hormonal changes, or other health issues, and the underlying cause can often be addressed.
