How to Clean Dirty Pots and Pans Naturally
You don’t need harsh chemical cleaners to tackle most burnt, greasy, or stained pots and pans. A few simple household ingredients—especially baking soda, vinegar, lemon, and salt—can handle many common messes.
1. Baking Soda for Burnt Food
For pots with stuck-on food:
-
Remove loose food with a wooden or silicone spatula.
-
Add enough water to cover the burnt area.
-
Add 2–3 tablespoons of baking soda.
-
Bring the water to a gentle boil and simmer for about 10–15 minutes.
-
Let it cool.
-
Scrub gently with a non-abrasive sponge.
-
Rinse thoroughly.
For stubborn spots, make a paste of baking soda and a little water, spread it over the area, and leave it for 15–30 minutes before scrubbing.
2. Vinegar for Mineral Deposits and Stains
For white, chalky deposits or dull-looking stainless steel:
-
Add 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water.
-
Warm the mixture for several minutes.
-
Allow it to cool slightly, then wash normally.
For stainless steel, rinse well afterward and dry the pan to prevent water spots
